Do Something With God’s Word: Hear It and Do It

Have you ever heard a Sunday morning sermon that literally sounded like it was written just for you?! I bet it seemed like the speaker knew exactly what was going on in your life because every scripture and every word was describing your exact situation. I bet you even cried, you shouted, you felt so good and filled with joy, and you believed with all your heart that things were going to get better! Didn’t you?

But when Monday morning came and you had to go back to work, or back to that unhappy relationship, or back to the doctor with the same health issue-You were yet again broken and not so joyous. It was as if you hadn’t even heard that good meassage just the day before.

I’ve been there before! And I’ll tell you exactly what this is: You are simply HEARING the Word; but you are not DOING anything with it after you have heard it. You see, when the Word has gone forth, seeds have been planted into your heart and mind. And you must DO something with those seeds. Just as a seed that has been planted into the ground needs continual water and sunlight to flourish into a beautiful plant, we must also water the Word of God once it has been planted within us if we want to see some changes in our lives.

You can water the seeds within you by reading the Word of God every day, asking God for understanding of the Word, frequently thinking or meditating on the Word throughout the day, speaking the Word over your live, and applying the Word to your life or particular situation. Matthew 13:23 (New King James Version) says, “But he who received seed on the good ground is he that hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

If you want God’s Word to produce fruit and make a difference in your life I encourage you to pray this short prayer:

Lord help me to not only be a hearer of your Word but also a doer of your Word. Help me to study your Word daily; and help me to understand the things I read. Help me to keep your Word in my mind all throughout the day. Help me to believe that your Word is true; and help me to speak the Word over my own life. And I pray that your Word will produce fruit and make a difference in my life. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!

As always, I pray these words have blessed. Like/Comment/Follow/Share.
