Psalm 71:14 (New King James Version) declares, “But I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more.” We must make this same declaration if we want to be able to keep going each day!
When we have hope that things will get better or that a blessing will come soon, we have motivation to keep going yet another day. Even in the midst of a storm-hope keeps us going! Hope is our fuel! This is why we need a NEW portion of hope EVERY DAY!
Just think about it-our bodies require food every day in order for us to be strong and keep going. No matter how much food you eat today, I guarantee you that one huge meal will not sustain you forever-you will still need to eat more food tomorrow!
It’s the same with hope! You can hear a good word or an encouraging song that overflows you with hope; and that portion of hope may last you a few days, maybe a week or two. But sooner or later, if you don’t go back to God for another portion of hope, you will be left empty and ready to give up.
So why not avoid getting empty and just fill up on hope every day?! You can fill up on hope by reading a few encouraging scriptures each day, speaking God’s promises over your life, listening to uplifting gospel music, listening to testimonies of others, or thinking on your own testimonies of what God has already done for you . Whatever it is that gives you hope in the Lord, do that every day!
For me, sometimes all it takes is going on an evening walk and seeing the birds flying around so carefree and the sun setting so intentionally. It’s then that I remember the scripture Matthew 6:26 (NKJV) which says that God feeds even the birds of the air. I remember that just as God has not forgotten to care for the birds or set the sun in the sky, He will not forget about me or my needs. And just like that-I have a new portion of hope!
Say this short prayer:
God I ask you to help me keep a portion of hope each day. Help me to search your Word for scriptures of promise that will encourage my heart. Help me to keep these scriptures on my mind every day and with me everywhere I go. Help me to hope continually in you God. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!
As always I pray these words have blessed. Like/Follow/Comment/Share.
