Insecurities: They Hold Us Back

Has God given you an idea, perhaps an idea to start a women’s group at your church or maybe even a business? Is there someone you would like to move forward with in a relationship, but you just can’t seem to tell them that you are interested?….Let me guess, you keep putting it off, thinking that you’re not “good enough” or you don’t have what it takes? Well I’m here to tell you, these thoughts are lies and are nothing but insecurities!

Insecurities are tricks of the enemy-they keep us from going to the “next level” with God! If we feel insecure or unworthy, we are likely to not move forward or try a new thing out. But I’ve found that looking at how much God loves us, is a great way to overcome insecurities.

God’s love is unconditional-he loves us without cause, without us giving Him a reason to. In fact, He even loved us while we were doing wrong, sinking deep in sin. Romans 5:8 (New King James Version) says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

So if God, creator and ruler of all, loves us and saw fit to let His son died for us-why should we ever feel we are not worthy of another person’s love? If God, who is the Beginning and the End, loves us and has equipped us to fulfill our callings, why should we ever feel that we are not “good enough” to get a particular job done? 2 Corinthians 3:5 (NKJV) tells us that we are SUFFICENT in God, meaning that we have all the tools that we need in order to complete any task God has given us. And those tools are in God!

So, don’t let the enemy hold you back with his lies any longer! Hand your insecurities over to God and keep moving forward with what God has given you to do! Say this short prayer with me:

Lord, help me to know that I am sufficient in you. I am worthy of another person’s love and I am good enough to complete the tasks that you have set before me. I hand all of my securities over to you, trusting you to make me whole in your perfect love. And Lord, strengthen me to be all that you want me to be and do all that you want me to do. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!

  1. I agree. People who live lives in obedience to the word of God should never think they are “not good enough” or be afraid to pursue a relationship, job, or goal in life that is pleasing to God. Each individual is fearfully and wonderfully made by God, and HIS plans are good to assure us a bright future. We are guided by the Word of God to “…do justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.” Pleasing God in our words, actions, and every day walk is rewarded as HE orders our steps toward our future. It may not happen overnight, but HE truly does answer prayer!
