John 8:12 (New King James Version) says, “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” From this scripture we can see that we have one of two choices. We can have light which leads to life; or we can have darkness which leads to death. Darkness is deceit, bondage, sickness, destruction, and any other negative thing you can think of. But light is truth, freedom, good health, prosperity, and any other POSITIVE thing you can think of.
We know that today’s world is full of darkness. Senseless killing, lying, stealing, and greed all seem to flood this world. And those who are not solid in their faith may question, is there any hope for the world?
If you are wondering this, I’m here to tell you there is indeed hope for the world. Because remember, Jesus is the light of the world! And we believers of Christ have been called to be the light of the world as well. Matthew 5:14-16 (NKJV) tells us that we are the light of the world; and we should not hide the light that is within us, but let God’s light shine through us so that He may be glorified.
Our neighbor may be lying and stealing but if WE continue to be honest and fair, God’s light will shine through us and He will get the glory! Our neighbor may be hating people and holding grudges but if WE continue to love and forgive people, God’s light will shine through us and He will get the glory!
You see, we cannot always stop the things of darkness from taking place. Even God, as mighty as He is, does not stop us from doing wrong-he gives us all a choice. And while we cannot change the choice of any other man, what we can do is continue to follow the example of Christ and let His light so shine from within us. At times it may seem that darkness is taking over the world, but remember John 1:5 (NKJV) which says, “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” In other words, darkness cannot overpower light-light always wins!
People of God: let’s stand up with Jesus to be the light of the world that God has called us to be! I pray these words have blessed. Like/Comment/Share/Follow
