Speak the Word: The Enemy Will Have to Flee

After fasting in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights, the devil came to Jesus, tempting Him to sin three times. However, Jesus remained faithful. Every time the devil tried to persuade Jesus, Jesus resisted and responded by using the Word of God. Eventually, standing in the face of truth, Satan had to flee! We believers of Christ should be doing the same thing He did, speaking the Word of God against the enemy and over our situations!

Let’s take a look at the three statements Jesus gave in response to the persuasion of Satan.

  • “But He answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the God” (Matthew 4:4, New King James Version).
  • “Jesus said to him, It is written again, You shall not tempt the Lord your God” (Matthew 4:7, NKJV)
  • “Then Jesus said to him, Away with you, Satan! For it is written, You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve” (Matthew 4:10, NKJV).

Some of you may be in tempting situations or even hearing the voice of the enemy! However, if you speak the Word against your situation the enemy will have to flee just as he fled from Jesus! If your situation involves fear, speak the scripture 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) over your life which says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Whatever your situation may be whether it’s financial problems, drugs, health issues, or fear; find a scripture you can use against that thing and SPEAK it! And when you speak, be sure to speak with power and authority, believing by faith that the things you speak are so!

Say this short prayer:

Lord, help me to search your Word for scriptures that I can speak over my life and against the temptation that the enemy may bring my way. In the face of temptation, help me to remember your Word and to speak it with authority! Let the enemy quickly flee when your Word goes forth from my mouth. And help me to believe by faith that the things I speak are so. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!

-To God be the Glory
