What We Should Be Thinking On

I’m sure you’ve been sitting somewhere and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, a bad thought comes to your mind. Now at this point you have one of two choices: you can entertain the thought or you can quickly strike that thought down using the Word of God. Some people may believe a thought is harmless; but I warn you that thoughts lead to ACTIONS. If you entertain thoughts of anger for too long, you might end up doing something out anger; or if you meditate on lustful thoughts long enough, you may eventually give into temptation.

Now we know we’ve got a mighty weapon to use against anything that is not like God; and that weapon is the Word. 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (New King James Version) tells us that our weapons are MIGHTY to the pulling down of strongholds, bringing every thought into alignment with the Word of God. You see-when a fearful thought enters into our minds, we can quickly bring that thought into agreement with the Word which says that God has NOT given us a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7, NKJV). When thoughts of rage try to overtake us, we can strike them down, declaring that even in our anger we will NOT sin or give place to the devil (Ephesians 4:26-27, NKJV).

The Apostle Paul even instructs us saying, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8, NKJV) We have got to be more INTENTIONAL or DELIBERATE in our thinking! Let’s deliberately take time to think about GOOD things; like how much God loves us, how He has delivered us in past times, and the goodness He has waiting for us in the future.

I guarantee you, if you think on these things you will see some changes in your attitude, your actions, and in your daily walk with God! Say this short prayer:

Lord, help me to strike down every negative thought that comes into my mind by using your Word. Help me bring my every thought into agreement with your Word. Help me to continually think on the good and pure things. And I pray that my change of thoughts will lead to a better life for me. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!
