I urge you to be SOBER in this present time! Be ALERT, pay ATTENTION, and be well AWARE of the things going on around you. These are the last and evil days and the enemy is coming at us in more clever ways than ever. 1 Peter 5:8 (New King James Version) instructs us saying, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”
The enemy uses relationships, seemingly “good deeds,” our jobs, and even sometimes our family members to entangle us in sin. If we are not careful, we will fall for the tricks of the enemy, allowing ourselves to get trapped in the things that we KNOW aren’t right. Maybe it’s a job that offers more money and power but causes you to do ungodly things. Maybe it’s a relationship that offers you a sense of “security” but causes you to disobey God, putting Him on the back burner.
I warn you-don’t be fooled by the small glimmer of “good” these situations seem to have. These things have an appearance of good but are ungodly at the core. The Word of God encourages us to ABSTAIN from ALL forms of sin and quickly dismiss ungodliness when it presents itself (1 Thessalonians 5:22 & 2 Timothy 2:16, NKJV). In other words, if a thing even APPEARS to have one ounce of evil in it, stay away from it-don’t even entertain it! If you stop to entertain the works of the enemy you might just get caught up.
People of God, we don’t know when Jesus is coming back; but it could be any day now. Time is indeed winding down and the enemy is trying to do whatever He can to keep us from being worthy of going back with Jesus. So we have got to be SOBER and continue to walk with and obey God, the one who has already won the VICTORY!
Say this short prayer:
Lord, help me to be sober in these last and evil days. Help me to stay alert in the spirit, identifying the traps of the enemy. Help me to resist temptation, standing fast on your Word. I declare: your Word is my weapon and I will use it to test all things. And if your Word does not agree with anything that presents itself to me, help me to quickly flee. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen!
-To God be the Glory
