Feel Free Friday

Ransom Paid: Feel Free Friday

Imagine you’ve been kidnapped. You’re being held hostage and your kidnapper has sent a huge ransom request to your father, one million dollars! You’re badly beaten, bound to a chair, hands behind your back with duct tape over your mouth. You can’t move an inch; you can barely let out a scream.

Now you’re father is rich so it takes him only 30 minutes to secure the million dollars and meet with your kidnapper to pay the ransom. Within an hour you’re back home, safe and sound. This sounds scary doesn’t it?…But truth is something like this has already happened.

We were held hostage at one point. Maybe not by an actual fleshly “kidnapper” but SIN had us bound. Sin had us messed up and beat down-we couldn’t make a move in life. We couldn’t elevate or grow in any way because sin was right there, everywhere we turned, holding us down.

But oh I’ve got great news for you. Our father in Heaven is RICH and He loves us so. He decided to send His only begotten son to earth to die for us, His death being the ransom for our release. He paid it once and for all that we might be FREE FOREVER, in this life and in the life to come! (John 3:16 & Romans 6:9-11, New King James Version)

So listen people of God: sin no longer has us bound! Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, won the VICTORY over sin and He purchased our freedom that we might have this same POWER! However, every time we yield to sin we’re behaving as if our ransom was never paid, running right back into the arms of the enemy, the one who held us hostage. Let’s not make our paid ransom of no effect-let’s not make what Jesus did for us vain.

Again I tell you: your ransom has been paid, the victory has been won and placed in your hands. You are free; so live like it!…FEEL FREE!
