Do what you can with what you’ve got. Quit talking about what you WOULD or COULD do if you had tons of money. Of course if you hit the lottery for millions of dollars you’d feed and house thousands of homeless people or build a huge youth center for the kids in your community. But that’s a BIG IF! We need to be focused on what we CAN do, right now, with what we already have.
I’m convinced that no matter how little we may have or how bad we may be doing, there’s always a way we can help another who may be less fortunate than us. And let me just say this-helping another may not always involve money and if it does, it may not involve a large amount of money. Just the other day, a fellow church member walked up to me after church and placed a small bill in my hand. It wasn’t much but what this person didn’t know is that I had literally just put my last dollar in the collection plate-my wallet was COMPLETELY empty. So that small act of kindness was very BIG to me; it was just what I needed and it blessed me greatly.
Listen people of God: we are in the last and evil days and we never know what someone is going through, what they are lacking, or how the enemy may be attacking them! The Word of God tells us to see about the afflicted, to strengthen others when they are burdened (Galatians 6:2, New King James Version). And the very thing which seems so SMALL to us may be exactly what the next person needs in order to keep holding on or come out of their storm! Whether it’s giving away nice clothes that you don’t wear anymore, offering to buy someone a meal, or simply lending a listening ear and giving an encouraging word; do what you can with what you’ve got!…There’s much work to be done; so let’s WORK IT!
