So this past weekend I had the DRAINING task of moving. Now I really don’t have much besides the basic necessities such as a bed, sofa, kitchen table etc. However, even with just these things and a few extra things like decorations and lots of clothes/shoes, I was WORE OUT to say the least. I began to re-evaluate a lot of things asking myself, “Now do I really need this?” I seriously wanted to throw some stuff away just so I wouldn’t have to worry about moving it. At one point my mom even asked if she could have one of my extra purses. I hesitated for a moment but then I quickly gave it to her. It was a mixture of my love for her AND the fact that this extra purse would be one more thing I’d have to move which led me to hand it over to her.
This frustration of moving caused me to think about the scriptures Matthew 6:19-20 (New King James Version) in which Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroy and where thieves do not break in and steal.” You see, someday we’ll all be moving because earth is not our permanent home. So what sense does it make to accumulate and store treasures HERE when we CAN’T take any of it with us to our eternal home?
It makes me laugh to even think of times I’ve gotten upset or in a bad mood all because I couldn’t buy a new decoration that I wanted or a new outfit or purse. I wanted MORE things so badly only to consider throwing away the little things I already had when faced with moving! Funny, huh? This whole moving experience just opened my eyes to be more THANKFUL for what I already have and STOP stressing over what I don’t have. Sometimes I think I have little but I really have a lot and everything I feel I WANT is not always what I NEED. So today I encourage you to be satisfied with what you already have as well and strive to accumulate your treasures in Heaven by simply obeying God and doing His good works. If we all do these things, we can be sure to have some GREAT rewards waiting for us in Heaven!
Again, someday we’ll all be MOVING and hopefully Heaven will be our new eternal home. So work to store your treasures there……THINK ABOUT IT!

We are already moving. As we take steps everyday we move closer to our destination. The clock is ticking fast.
May we never miss eternal life. Amen.

My pleasure! It is a good reminder when we get caught up about all that we have that we can’t take it with us.

Moving!! is such a daunting process, it might seem easy with the professional services available but one still has to decide what to keep and what to get rid of! And that is difficult!
