Yes, doing good works for God is one of our duties as being a part of the body of Christ. However, God does not want us to work ourselves senseless! He wants us to also PLAY, LET LOOSE and ENJOY ourselves. King Solomon was the wisest King to ever live; he was indeed given much wisdom by God and he even found this concept of “play” to be true. King Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 5:18-19 (New King James Version), “Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him, for it is his heritage. As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor-this is the gift of God.”
Consider this. Who builds a house and then doesn’t live in it? Or who prepares a meal and then doesn’t sit down to eat? …..No one does! If we put in the work we want to REAP the benefits from it. Likewise with all the work we put into the Body of Christ, God wants us to receive a reward of relaxation and enjoyment, not only in heaven but while here on earth as well. And just think about it, when we take time out for ourselves to enjoy the fruit of our labor, it RECHARGES us to go back and complete the work of God. Now I hope you guys know that I DO take my own advice. The last thing I want to be guilty of is speaking a word that I don’t even practice myself. So I play and enjoy the fruit of my labor by doing small and big things.
I enjoy weekend getaway trips with my older sister; we do all types of things like go get professional massages and visit hilarious comedy clubs. I also enjoy going out to eat with my whole family, shopping, getting my hair done, and trying new and exciting things. Taking a fun dance class (because I’m a horrible dancer, haha) is still on my list of new things to try! Also, one day I am very hopeful that I will be able to travel the world! And because of my faith in God, I believe He will make a way for that to happen! So in all I encourage all of you to of course, put in the work! But PLAY as well-enjoy life!
Now don’t forget to keep your play GODLY and don’t forget to RETURN back to God’s work once you have been recharged! As always, there’s much work in the Lord to be done…So let’s WORK IT!
