I’ve always enjoyed people watching. Sometimes I may sit down on a bench inside a busy mall and watch people walking in and out of stores, talking, laughing, or happily holding the hand of their mate. Now if it’s on a day when I have something “heavy” on my mind, I must admit I sometimes get a little annoyed. Whether it’s a disappointment of some sort, a pain in my body, or just pure unhappiness with a particular situation in my life that’s bothering me; I get annoyed thinking “how dare these people be happy and CARRY ON with life as I sit here almost miserable?” However, sometimes it motivates or inspires me when I see people continue to be happy in the midst of my own unhappiness. You see, sometimes we need to see people carrying on with life; because it reminds us that the world does NOT stop for anything or anybody.
I don’t mean to sound harsh, but even if we’re dealing with something as serious as the death of a loved one, I guarantee you that if God allows the sun to rise the next day, life will still CONTINUE to go on. Children will still get up and go to school the next morning and adults will still go to work. People will still adventure, love, laugh, and celebrate different things-life will still go on for everyone else! And today I want to encourage you that life SHOULD still go on for you too! I say it all the time; YOU ARE FREE! Now I say it because it’s true not just because it sounds good. Galatians 5:1 (New King James Version) instructs us saying, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” However, if we allow the seemingly “heavy” issues of life to weigh us down and keep us from rejoicing, are we truly walking in our freedom or have we returned to bondage?….I’ll answer that for you; if we let this happen we are indeed returning to bondage.
Listen, I say all of that to say this. Things are going to happen in this natural realm called life; whether it be the loss of a loved one, a sickness that strikes your body, or a relationship/friendship that fails. However, NOTHING should separate us from walking in the freedom that Jesus Christ has purchased for us! So today I encourage you to pick yourself up out of the pits; MOVE ON, CARRY ON, and KEEP RIGHT ON WITH YOUR LIFE! Whatever good thing you want to do, do it! Whatever good level you want to reach, reach it! You are free; so live like it! Feel free my friends, FEEL FREE!
