I’ve been having a rough couple of days reflecting on disappointments and falling victim to the “why me” syndrome. Oh don’t be shocked, I know you’ve probably fell victim to this syndrome before too. It’s awful to say the least; but just today I learned an interesting fact that shook me back to my senses…The human heart beats over 100,000 times per day! Wow, over 100,000 times! Yesterday, anywhere between 1 and 100,000 God could have forgotten to make my heart beat; or He could’ve just decided to not let it beat anymore! BUT He saw fit to let my heart keep beating and I’m still here today!
Sure I’ve got some disappointments- I’m sure you do too! However, as I’m writing this and as you’re reading this we’ve all got at least 100, 000+ reasons to be happy and very much thankful! Not even counting the times God has kept us in our right minds, provided us with food and clothes, and all the other wonderful things He’s done; but just from our heartbeats alone we have over 100,000 reasons to thank and praise God! So many people didn’t get 100 heartbeats yesterday or anywhere near 100,000. However, God thought enough about you and me to give us every single one of them. My friend that did not happen by accident!
Now if we were fools we’d waste today’s heartbeats complaining and dwelling on the past instead of thanking God for the 100,000+ beats He gave us yesterday. But surely we BELIEVERS know better because the Word of God tells us to REJOICE, PRAY, and GIVE THANKS in ALL THINGS! Even though everything in my life may not be exactly the way I want it to be, I WILL stand firm on the fact that I have over 100,000 reasons to rejoice; over 100,000 reasons to keep praying, and over 100,000 reasons to give God thanks! And I believe you should do the same!
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (New King James Version)
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
–To God be the Glory (for a wonderful year of blessings and this awesome opportunity to share my thoughts here with you! I pray this last post for the year has blessed you greatly; and I hope to see you all in 2018!)
