If you put 3 pennies into an empty box there’s no way you can put your hand in and pull out a quarter, of course not, because the only thing that can come OUT of a box is what you’ve put IN! Now our spirits are much like empty boxes; GOOD things will not come out if we are constantly putting BAD things in. We subconsciously allow things into our spirit all day long; whether it be through things we watch on television, music we listen to, or conversations we engage in. If we are constantly watching drama filled television shows, listening to vulgar music, or even just idly listening to gossiping conversations; what do you think will eventually come back out of us after we have taken all of this negative stuff in?! The Word of God even tells us that evil communications ruin good manners, meaning in spite of our efforts to do right, if we hang around ungodliness long enough we too will become ungodly.
Now I must admit it took me a while to realize this; but once I made some changes I noticed a big shift in my thoughts, desires, conversations, and even my actions. A few years back I started listening to only gospel music-so guess what type of catchy hooks and phrases are popping up into my mind all throughout the day now?…Good and positive ones that remind me of how good God is! I even had to stop reading those “over the top” romance books that can put all types of lustful thoughts into your mind-now all I read is The Bible and godly motivational books. So guess who’s always got a scripture on their mind or an encouraging word coming from their lips now?…Me! Now if you want to see a shift in the things that flow from you, I encourage you to seriously think about what you’ve been allowing into your spirit, then make some necessary changes. And remember, the only thing that can come OUT of a box is what you’ve put IN!
