New Perspective

Using God: New Perspective

If people only call us when they NEED something we get mad, right?! If they never call to just check on us or to simply say “I love you,” we get downright upset! We feel they are only USING us and we often cut them off as soon as we reach this conclusion. Now I agree, it doesn’t feel good to be used; and most times it’s best to cut ties with a person who does such because they will completely DRAIN you for every good thing you have. BUT consider this-why do some of us try to use GOD in this same selfish way and think nothing of it?!

It’s ironic that we get mad at mere PEOPLE for doing things against us only to turn around and do the same things toward our most loving and faithful God. Now the Word of God tells us that NOTHING should separate us from His love. Yet often we let “good times” separate us from Him. As long as we are in good health, successful, have no major family problems, and feel we have no immediate need of anything; we get too relaxed and “forget” to continually call upon God. However, when trouble strikes again we run right back to God in prayer-does this sound familiar to anybody?

Today I want to encourage you to “check yourself” least you be found guilty of trying to use God. Make it a habit that you pray EVERYDAY, when things are good and when things are bad. Stop throughout the day to just acknowledge seemingly simple blessings and say, “Lord I thank you.” Sometimes just lift up your head toward the heavens and say, “Lord I love you.” And even when things are good, continually call upon God that He might continue to protect you from tragedy least the enemy find a way to sneak in and steal your joy.

Romans 8:38-39 (New King James Version)

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  1. Thank you for talking about this Adrianna. In my walk with Christ, I’m realizing how important it is to talk to Him, seek Him and include Him in my daily affairs. I now praise His name at all times and not only when I need His intervention. 🙂
