Choices: New Perspective

Has anybody else ever realized that literally EVERYTHING is a choice? No one can make you do anything and you always have free will to do either this, that, or the other. Even if someone has a gun to your head saying, “Do this or I’ll shoot you,” you STILL have a choice as to what you will do. True enough, that gun to your head may influence your choice or cause your choice to be more difficult to make. However, you STILL have a choice-point blank period. Either you choose to do it and live or not do it and die. Now many of us have never actually had a gun pointed to our heads; however, situations like “either I break the law to get this money or see my bills go unpaid and my family hungry” may seem just like a gun pointed to your head.

I’m sure we’ve all, at some point, faced difficult “back against the wall” situations where we felt as if we had no choice but to do the WRONG thing just to survive or get by. But today I want to remind you that we ALWAYS have a choice. You see, God knew we’d face difficulties in life; however, He still wants us to do what’s right and follow righteousness! So today I encourage you to deliberately choose RIGHT, even when the choice may be hard. Yes choosing right may sometimes leave you hungry, without a job, bills unpaid, or without a friend. But I want to remind you that your Heavenly Father will NOT allow His righteous children to suffer long and you will most assuredly have to give an account for every wrong choice you have made in this life.

Joshua 24:15 (New King James Version)

“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
