Some of us often call new houses, cars, and jobs BIG blessings, while calling things like God waking us up in the morning, the activity of our limbs, and a sound mind SMALL blessings. Some of us even praise God a little differently after receiving a so called big blessing; we might praise Him a little louder and with more thankfulness. However, as I’ve matured in the Lord, I’ve learned there is NO SUCH THING as a small blessing. Consider these things-a cemetery is full of bodies that didn’t get to see another morning. A nursing home or hospital is overflowing with stroke and accident victims who are no longer blessed with the activity of their limbs. Then there are psychiatric wards filled with individuals who have mental health issues and are no longer blessed with a sound mind.
I’m sure none of these blessings would seem small to any of these individuals. My mother actually suffers from a mental illness and when it strikes her it takes away her ability to function properly and clearly understand the things going on around her. Seeing my mother’s struggles over the years has made me most thankful for a right mind; because I understand that without first having a sound mind you can do NOTHING! So to me a sound mind is just as big of a blessing as a new house or car!
However, many of us are always looking for MONEY or something of monetary value when seeking blessings; but let me remind you that in order to receive any blessing you must first have the gift of life. Then in order to fully enjoy your blessings you will need a sound mind, the activity of your limbs, joy, peace, and so many other intangible things. People of God: Let’s not count any blessing small. Let’s acknowledge EVERY blessing we receive from our Heavenly Father and give Him the same praise for each of them! Today I decleare that a blessing is a blessing; and I will praise Him greatly for them all!
Psalm 34:1 (New King James Version)
“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
