I know the agonizing feeling of wanting to let something go but not being able to for some reason! It kind of makes you feel like you’re literally going around and around in circles on a merry go round as you continue to think about what you could’ve, would’ve, or should’ve done. You analyze the situation backwards and forwards, seeing clearly what you and the other person did wrong. You’ve learned your lesson, forgiven yourself and the other person, and even handed the issue over to God. You’ve even tried to focus your attention on other positive things to occupy your time and mind. Yet and still, you just can’t let it go for some reason as it continues to pop back up in your mind. Well, I guess I should tell you now-I don’t have the magic answer as to how to ultimately let it go. However, I’d like to encourage you and share with you what I do know.
God knows your heart-He knows you desparately want to put this thing behind you and He sees you are really trying. I can’t tell you why you haven’t been able to completely move on despite of all your efforts. It could be that you really haven’t completely forgiven yourself or the other person. Or it could be that you still have another lesson to learn from the situation that you keep overlooking. Whatever the case may be, all I can tell you is to KEEP PRAYING diligently for your deliverance! The Word of God tells us to pray ALWAYS, to remain joyous in the Lord, and give Him thanks in ALL things. So even in this season of “circles” or struggling to let go-keep praying, keep rejoicing, and keep giving Him praise. In the midst of following God’s perfect instructions and truly desiring, with all of your heart, to let the pain of the past go-you CAN’T tell me God won’t set you free one day, at His appointed time! He WILL my friend; He will!
I Thessalonians 5:16-18 (New King James Version)
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
-To God be the Glory
