If it hurts you-learn from it! Did you foolishly put yourself in a position to be hurt? Is your defense mechanism not strong enough? Did you have on the WHOLE armor of God when you got hurt?
If something makes you mad-learn from it!…Why does this thing get you so upset? Can you control the anger? Can you be angry about it and still avoid retaliating back with sin?
If something frustrates you-learn from it!…Why does it bother you so bad? What happened in your past that makes you unable to tolerate this kind of thing now? How can you tolerate this thing enough to not let it ruin your entire day?
Sometimes it seems like we can’t help but to get sad, upset, or frustrated about things because we are indeed human- we were made to feel things, and people can definitely PROVOKE us at times. Yet the problem isn’t merely feeling negative emotions, it’s allowing these negative emotions to consume us or cause us to sin. Here recently I was very upset about something, and honestly any normal person would have been upset about it. However, I was allowing this anger to overcome me, to consume my daily mood and thoughts. I seriously had to take a step back, examine myself, and ask myself this question-why is this thing getting me so extremely upset?
After seeking God for understanding and allowing myself to be completely honest about the situation, I LEARNED that I was more upset or disappointed with myself, rather than the other person. I was upset with my own self because I willingly left myself open to be hurt and I knew better! I knew good and well it was my own job to PROTECT ME! Looking back, I see the exact spiritual mistakes I made and I pray that God will help me to avoid making these silly mistakes again. Glory be to God that I was able to LEARN of my own flaws so that I can do better in the future and move on to bigger and greater things! So today I encourage you to do the same with whatever you may be dealing with! You may be going through something really awful right now and bluntly put-you’re in it now so there’s no way to undo it! All you can do now is GET THROUGH IT and LEARN from it every step of the way!
Proverbs 9:9 (New King James Version)
“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.”
