The Beauty Of Being Alone: Lovely Things

As humans, we all want some type of companionship; whether it be through a good friendship, a romantic relationship, or even through a mentorship with someone much wiser/older than us. We all want comfort/support from others and to know we are not alone. However, the reality of life is this: we might not always have support or a “go to” person every time we hit a low or dark point in life. To be quite honest, anyone who is truly walking with God will indeed go through periods where they have to lose certain people who are not contributing to their growth in the Lord. Therefore, you may very well end up alone for a certain period of time-not completely alone, because God is always with you, but alone in the sense that you are not surrounded by people.

Now I know from experience, it doesn’t feel good to go through a struggle and feel as though you have no one to lean on. We all want at least that one person who will step in to hold us in their arms and say, “Everything will be okay”. Yet I still see the beauty in not always having that one person-I see the beauty in sometimes just being alone. Being alone makes you totally dependent on God for support, strength, and encouragement. And when you realize that you’ve made it through rough times without much support from others, you’ll have FULL ASSURANCE that it was only God who brought you through. Moving forward, you will not fear losing anyone or anything because you will know for certain, through your own personal testimony, that you can make it with just you and God!…I’m telling you, this type of assurance is so sweet-I know it very well!

Sometimes a friend may not be available, a family member may be too far away, and a lover could turn cold and you will need to know that you can still make it-even if no one but God is there. You will need to know that when a friend is not around to whisper words of comfort, God will comfort you through His word and by the filling of His Holy Spirit. You will need to know that when a lover is not there to hold you tight, God will wrap you up in the warmth and calmness of His presence. And the only way to truly find this out is to experience alone time and see for yourself that God can and will keep you when nobody else is around. So I encourage you today-even in the midst of life’s struggles, see the beauty in being alone! Don’t be afraid of alone time; I dare you to embrace it! It will only bring you closer to God as you look to Him for ALL of your help and learn that NOBODY can comfort or keep you quite like He can!

Psalm 121:1-2 (New King James Version)

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills-From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.”

Throwback Thursday

Hello there my faithful followers! In case you guys didn’t know, Thursdays are my rest days! I use this time to commune with God, read His Word, and meditate. So in honor of the “Throwback Thursday” theme, I encourage my readers to take a look at some of my old blog posts that they may have missed out on throughout the weeks! Also on Mondays I do MOVE IT MONDAY videos which can be found on my blog’s Facebook page. Go to Facebook, search @yourgodlywords, then like/follow page to view those videos!

I always try to do actual blog posts on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Saturdays are my “kick back with myself or my family” days. Then Sundays I’m busy with my church and resting up for the new week! I try my best to be as consistent as possible and I’m really enjoying what I do! I’m YOUNG, I love God, I’m trying my best to live by Him and I just want to be an example to all YOUNG people that this thing is possible! It’s POSSIBLE to be young, live for God, and enjoy doing it! I’m soon to be 26 years old and ENJOYING every minute of my walk with God! And while I may not be able to “win the majority” over to Christ, if I can reach just ONE person with each blog post I write, I will be satisfied with that!

Thanks so much to all who have supported me thus far. And I just want to let you know: every time I get even ONE comment or inbox saying, “That really blessed me, that was just what I needed to hear” it motivates me to keep going!…Love you guys!

Me Again: An Original Poem

Let’s not beat ourselves up over sin! True enough we should NOT abuse God’s grace-we should NEVER use it as an excuse to sin. However, when we truly want to do right, but fall short from time to time; God’s grace is there for us! God’s grace is SUFFICIENT, meaning it is big enough to forgive us and even strengthen us to do better (2 Corinthians 12:9, New King James Version). So let’s ACCEPT the grace we have in God through Christ Jesus. And remember, when we fall short it is only a gentle reminder that we are not greater than God as we are down low but our God sits up high!

It’s me again oh Lord

Coming once again

The enemy’s trying to defeat me

But by Jesus Christ I win

Sure enough I have sinned

But through Christ I am forgiven

Your grace, it covers me

And it is sufficient

Oh help me Lord

To not abuse your grace

But to use it sparingly

For I’m not bound by sin

I have been set free

Oh the enemy thinks He’s won

Every time I fall or stumble

But when I come up short

It only makes me humble

Because after I fall

I only have a better view to see

My God who sits up high

As He looks down and watches over me

Beauty From Pain: An Original Poem

Just about every good or beautiful thing we experience here on earth will come AFTER a little pain. No one likes to endure pain but it is indeed rewarding when our suffering/hard work pays off as we finally get to enjoy the final product which is the beauty. I encourage you: whatever pain you may be going through, rest assured there will come a day when you will behold God, the source of ALL beauty, face to face. And you will dwell with him FOREVER in a place where there’s absolutely no more crying or suffering; if only you live a life worth! (Revelations 21:4, New King James Version)

How could precious babies come into the world

If mothers never suffered labor pains

How could our wounds be healed by God above

If we are never slain

How would the olive produce oil

If it were never under pressure

How could we truly enjoy sunshine

If we never have a little stormy weather

If we never fell

How could we stand back up much stronger

If we were never tried

How could our faith stretch any longer

If we didn’t have to die

How could we return to the glory from which we came

I tell you, there’s absolutely no beauty on earth without a little pain

But rest assured there’s a place

Where we will cry no more

There’s beauty all around this city

Even streets made of solid gold

A destination that truly makes it

Worthwhile to run this painful race

Because there we behold God, the source of all beauty

Standing face to face

The Church: An Original Poem

The Church is not a building

It is not four walls

It’s not built with earthly hands

Nor made of bricks or logs

The Church is not the pews

High ceilings or polished floors

It’s not the decorations on the walls

Nor the double doors

The Church is not a structure

Built up from the ground

The church is incorruptible

And cannot be torn down

The People of God

Filled with the Spirit of God

Doing the Work of God

By Spreading the Love of God

Makes the Church Complete

But many think the Church is material

Oh what great deceit

Truth is: the People of God are the Church

Whether at home, at work

In a building or gathered under a tree

The Church is not a place we go

But it’s who we should strive to be

Prisoner of Hope: An Original Poem

I’ve failed to mention before that I’m a poet. Here’s a poem I wrote just this morning about hope. It’s inspired by Zechariah 9:12 (New King James Version) which says, “Return to the stronghold, You prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.”

I AM a prisoner of HOPE

But don’t feel sorry for me

A prisoner of hope is the only prisoner that is actually FREE

I’m free from darkness and discouragement

Yet bound by thoughts that things will only get BETTER

I’m held hostage by hope through times of sunshine and even stormy weather

Joy has taken captive of my soul

This righteous hope for GOOD has got a strong hold

I’m surrounded by hope on every side

Hope is all around

It’s crazy, I’m so happy while yet bound

I’m caged, tied down, and locked in

By thoughts of hope that say I will WIN

Oh I’m forced to see the brighter side

Of every situation that tries to break my stride

I AM a prisoner of HOPE

But PLEASE, don’t feel sorry for me

Being bound by the RIGHTEOUS hope of the Lord

I am made FREE
